Myril Oliver Hoag (born March 9, 1908 – died July 28, 1971) was an American professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Myril Hoag played for several famous teams. These included the New York Yankees, St. Louis Browns, Chicago White Sox, and Cleveland Indians. He played from 1931 to 1945. Myril Hoag was part of three World Series winning teams. He also played in the 1939 MLB All-Star Game.

Myril Hoag was born in Davis, California. He started playing in the major leagues on April 15, 1931. His last game was on September 16, 1945. Hoag batted and threw with his right hand. During his career, he had a batting average of .271. He hit 28 home runs and had 401 RBIs (Runs Batted In).
Playing for the Yankees
After playing two seasons with the Sacramento Senators, Hoag joined the New York Yankees. This was after the 1930 baseball season. He played seven seasons with the Yankees over eight years. In 1933, he played for the Newark Bears. In 1936, Hoag missed some games. This was because he had a blood clot on his brain. It happened after he crashed into his teammate, Joe DiMaggio, in the outfield.
Myril Hoag hit a home run for the Yankees' first run. This happened when they won the final game of the 1937 World Series. He had a great batting average of .320 in his three World Series appearances.
Later Teams and Achievements
In 1939, the Yankees traded Hoag to the St. Louis Browns. He was traded for Oral Hildebrand and Buster Mills. That year, he was chosen for the American League All-Star team. He batted .295 and had 75 RBIs. He also had 202 total bases. In 1942, while playing for the Chicago White Sox, he was fifth in the league for stolen bases. He stole 17 bases that year. This was almost double his previous best of nine stolen bases in 1939.
Myril Hoag finished his career with 854 hits. He had 3,147 at bats. On June 6, 1934, he made history. He got six hits in one game against the Red Sox. The Yankees won that game 15–3. He was the last New York Yankee to get six hits in a game. This record stood until Gerald Williams did it on May 1, 1996.
