NASCAR Racers is an exciting animated television series from Saban Entertainment. It's all about two rival NASCAR racing teams. These teams, called Team Fastex and Team Rexcor, compete in a super cool futuristic league. This show aired on Fox Kids from 1999 to 2001. Later, Disney took over the series in 2001.

The show mixes different animation styles. The fast racing scenes use amazing 3D computer animation. But the characters themselves are drawn in a classic 2D cartoon style.

About NASCAR Racers

This animated series had 26 half-hour episodes. Saban Entertainment produced it with Ocean Productions. Ocean Productions also did voices for other shows like Spider-Man Unlimited. The show's catchy theme song was made by Jeremy Sweet.

NASCAR Racers first aired as a special three-part TV movie. This happened on November 11, 1999. The show officially ran until 2001. After Disney bought Saban, reruns of the show aired on Jetix.

What's the Show About?

Unlike real NASCAR races, these tracks are wild! The racers compete on many different courses. These include road courses, off-road trails, and mountain tracks. There's even a special "Motorsphere" track. This track starts like a normal race track. Then it goes into a giant sphere. The cars race around the inside of this sphere!

The NASCAR Unlimited Division uses super advanced technology. Each race car has a hidden "Rescue Racer" inside. This smaller car pops out if there's a big crash. This keeps the drivers safe. In season 2, new "XPT racers" were introduced. These cars use special atomic fuel for maximum power.

Meet the Characters

The characters in the show often practice on simulators. This helps them get better before real races. Real NASCAR drivers do this too!

Team Fastex Drivers

  • Mark "Charger" McCutchen (Ian James Corlett): Mark is a natural driver. He wants to live up to his family's racing history. He won the championship for Team Fastex in season 1. Mark drives car #204.
  • Megan "Spitfire" Fassler (Kathleen Barr): Megan is the daughter of Jack Fassler, who owns Team Fastex. She's the only girl on the team. Her dad wasn't sure about her racing at first. But he changed his mind! Megan drives car #101.
  • Carlos "Stunts" Rey (Rino Romano): Carlos was a champion motorcycle racer. He joined NASCAR to earn money for his sick father's medical care. He's very loyal to Team Fastex. Carlos drives car #404.
  • Steve "Flyer" Sharp (Roger R. Cross): Steve was a fighter pilot. He had to retire after being exposed to dangerous chemicals. He joined NASCAR to prove he can handle pressure. Steve drives car #808.

Team Fastex Crew

  • Jack Fassler (Richard Newman): Jack is the owner of Team Fastex. He helped start the NASCAR Unlimited division. He borrowed a lot of money to start the races. His rival, Garner Rexton, bought the bank. This made Jack owe money directly to Rexton.
  • Douglas "Duck" Dunaka (Dale Wilson): Duck is the team's crew chief. He's a master mechanic. He loves comfort food and can fix anything with duct tape! He even raced once as "Rubber Ducky."
  • Lugnut: Lugnut is a skilled mechanic. He joined Team Fastex in season 2. He's great at fixing cars super fast. But he can be a bit clumsy!

Team Rexcor Drivers

  • Lyle "The Collector" Owens (Scott McNeil): Lyle is a mean and arrogant driver. He causes crashes and collects pieces of cars as trophies. He's Charger McCutchen's main rival. Lyle drives car #606.
  • Hondo "Specter" Hines: Hondo is a mysterious driver. He's calm and calculating. He's known for sneaking up on cars and wrecking them. He often wears dark sunglasses. Hondo drives car #303.

  • Diesel "Junker" Spitz: Diesel used to race in Europe. He secretly worked with people who sold stolen cars. He loves wrecking other cars more than winning. Diesel drives car #707.

Team Rexcor Crew

  • Garner Rexton (Ron Halder): Garner owns Team Rexcor. He's often the one causing trouble in the NASCAR Unlimited series. He's arrogant and manipulative. Garner wants to get revenge on Jack Fassler.
  • Spex (Richard Newman): Spex is Team Rexcor's crew chief. He's a cyborg with special tools built into his body. He's very cold and always loyal to Garner Rexton.
  • Kent "Demolisher" Steel: Kent is an android designed to destroy Team Fastex. He has no fear. He was unmasked as a robot after a crash. Kent drove car #500.

Other Unlimited Series Drivers

  • "Redline" O'Rourke (Kirby Morrow): Redline is a mysterious driver. He's very skilled and a strong opponent. He always races fairly. Redline drives car #119.
  • Phil "Octane" Knox: Phil is known for his fast car. He seems friendly but secretly works for Rexcor. He once tricked "Flyer" with something that made him confused. Phil drives car #420.
