Rogers City | The F.T. Barney was a type of sailing ship called a schooner. It was built way back in 1856. Sadly, it sank in 1868 after crashing into another ship. The shipwreck was lost for a long time until it was found in 1987. It rests about 160 feet deep in the water and is one of the most complete shipwrecks from its time! | |

Rogers Township | In the mid-1800s, many lighthouses were built along the Great Lakes. But there was a dark, unlit stretch of coastline about 18 miles long near Presque Isle. Sailors had to navigate this part without a light to guide them. So, in 1895, money was set aside to build the Forty Mile Point Light. It's about 40 miles south of Mackinac Point. The design for this lighthouse is almost the same as the one for the Big Bay Point Light on Lake Superior. | |

Presque Isle Township | The Norman was a ship built in 1890. It was one of the first steel ships on the Great Lakes that used a propeller to move. It carried iron and coal. On May 30, 1895, the Norman crashed into another ship, the Jack, during a thick fog. The Norman now rests about 210 feet deep in the water. | |

Rogers City | Hoeft State Park was created on land given by Paul H. Hoeft in 1922. He was a very successful lumber businessman. This park is full of trees and has about 1 mile of shoreline along Lake Huron. It offers 143 campsites, 4 miles of hiking trails, and places for picnics. There's also a lodge built in the late 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, a group that helped people find jobs during the Great Depression. | |

Ocqueoc Township | The Ocqueoc Falls Highway–Ocqueoc River Bridge was built in 1920. It's important because it's a great example of the early concrete arch bridges built by the Michigan State Highway Department. It shows how bridges were designed and built almost a century ago. | |

Presque Isle | The Old Presque Isle Light was the very first lighthouse in the Presque Isle area. It was built in 1840 using stone and brick. But the tower and the keeper's house didn't last long in the harsh weather. By 1867, they were in bad shape, so a new lighthouse was needed. The New Presque Isle Light was built in 1870, and the Old Presque Isle Light stopped being used in 1871. Today, the old lighthouse is a museum where you can learn about its history. | |

North Allis Township | Onaway State Park is one of the oldest state parks in Michigan, opening in 1921. It's located on Black Lake and has sandy beaches with cool cobblestones. You can also see large rock formations and enjoy a campground. There's a nature trail that shows off many different kinds of trees. | |

Onaway | This building, also known as the Onaway Courthouse, was built in 1908 by Merritt Chandler. He wanted Onaway to become the main county seat instead of Rogers City. Even though he didn't fully succeed, they made a deal: county court sessions were held in both Rogers City and Onaway until the 1940s. Now, the building is home to a public library, a Historical Museum, the Chamber of Commerce, and offices for the City of Onaway. | |

Presque Isle Township | The New Presque Isle Light was built in 1870. It was made to replace the older, worn-out Old Presque Isle Light. A smart engineer named Orlando Metcalfe Poe from the United States Army Corps of Engineers designed this lighthouse. It has a cool tapered (getting narrower at the top) tower and the keeper's living area is connected to it. This design was so good that several other lighthouses around the Great Lakes were built to look very similar! | |

Presque Isle | The Presque Isle Lodge is a huge log building, about 10,000 square feet! It was built in 1920 in a style called Rustic architecture, which uses natural materials like logs. Today, it's a bed and breakfast where people can stay. It still has a large collection of its original rustic log furniture, which is pretty neat to see. | |

Rogers City | The Radka-Bradley House is also known as the Bradley House. For 13 years, it was the home of Carl D. Bradley. He was a very important person who made the Michigan Limestone and Chemical Company famous across the country. After he passed away, the people who took over his job also lived in this house. Now, it's the Presque Isle County Historical Museum, where you can learn about the area's past. | |

Presque Isle Township | The Kyle Spangler was a wooden schooner, a type of sailing ship, built in 1856. It sank in 1860 after it crashed into another schooner. What's amazing is that the shipwreck is still in remarkably good condition, even after all these years underwater! |
