Nelliston is a small village in Montgomery County, New York, United States. In 2020, about 555 people lived there. The village got its name from the Nellis family, who were early settlers in the area.
Nelliston is part of the Town of Palatine. It is located west of the city of Amsterdam. The famous Erie Canal also passes by the village.

History of Nelliston
The Nellis family first came to the Palatine area in 1722. Andrew Nellis was the founder of this family in the region.
During the early colonial times, two forts were built here. They were called Fort Fox and Fort Wagner. Nelliston did not grow much until the time of the Civil War. This war happened in the United States from 1861 to 1865.
Many old and important buildings in Nelliston are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. This means they are special and protected. Some of these include the Lasher-Davis House and the Peter Ehle House. The Reformed Dutch Church of Stone Arabia and the Jacob Nellis Farmhouse are also on the list. Other important places are the Nelliston School, Waterman-Gramps House, and Walrath-Van Horne House. The whole Nelliston Historic District is also recognized.

Nelliston is located at 42°56′1″N 74°36′49″W / 42.93361°N 74.61361°W.
The village covers a total area of about 1.2 square miles (3.1 square kilometers). Most of this area is land. A small part, about 0.1 square miles (0.23 square kilometers), is water.
Nelliston is on the northeast side of the Mohawk River. Across the river is the Village of Fort Plain. The New York State Thruway, a major highway, also runs nearby.
Two main roads pass through Nelliston. New York State Route 5 is known as Main Street in the village. New York State Route 80 also starts here, connecting to Route 5.
