New Carlisle is a city in Clark County, Ohio, United States. In 2020, about 5,559 people lived there. It is part of the larger Springfield, Ohio metropolitan area.

History of New Carlisle
New Carlisle was first called Monroe when it was founded in 1810. The name was later changed to New Carlisle. This new name came from Carlisle, Pennsylvania, which was where some of the first people to settle here were from.
A post office opened in New Carlisle in 1828. The town officially became a village in 1831. Later, in 1973, New Carlisle became a city.
A famous event happened in New Carlisle on June 21, 1933. A well-known figure named John Dillinger was involved in a bank robbery here. He took money from the New Carlisle National Bank. The building where this happened is still standing today at the corner of Main Street and Jefferson Street.
