The area stretches east to Connecticut Route 219. This road is on the east side of Lake McDonough. Lake McDonough is a reservoir on the East Branch of the Farmington River. The CDP goes south almost to where the East and West Branches of the Farmington River meet. Then it runs west along Henderson Road to Steele Road and Burdick Road. The western edge follows a small brook about 0.5 miles (0.8 km) west of the village. This brook goes north to the Barkhamsted town line.

Major Roads and Travel

U.S. Route 44 goes through New Hartford Center. It is known as Main Street here. If you go northwest on Route 44, you will reach Winsted in about 6 miles (10 km). If you go southeast, you will get to Hartford, the state capital, in about 19 miles (31 km).

Connecticut Route 219 also passes through. It leads southwest through the town of New Hartford for about 4 miles (6 km) to U.S. Route 202. If you go northeast on Route 219, you will reach Barkhamsted in about 6 miles (10 km).
