The New Right (Hebrew: הימין החדש, HaYamin HeHadash) is a right-wing political party in Israel. It was started in December 2018 by Ayelet Shaked and Naftali Bennett.
The New Right party wants to be a home for both religious and secular people who share right-wing ideas. In the April 2019 election, the party did not win any seats in the Knesset (Israel's parliament). However, they won three seats in the September 2019 election. They kept these seats in the March 2020 election and won seven seats in the 2021 Israeli legislative election.

How the New Right Party Started
The New Right party was formed in December 2018. Naftali Bennett, Ayelet Shaked, and Shuli Mualem left their old party, The Jewish Home. They wanted to create a new party that was open to both religious and non-religious people. Their old party was seen as being only for religious people.
In January 2019, a writer named Caroline Glick joined the party. Later, Shirly Pinto, an activist for deaf rights, also joined. Ayelet Shaked said that Pinto would help people with disabilities.
Working with Other Parties
For the September 2019 election, the New Right joined an alliance called Yamina. This alliance included The Jewish Home and another party called Tkuma. An alliance is when different parties work together for an election.
After the election, the Yamina alliance split into two groups. The New Right was one group, and The Jewish Home/Tkuma was the other.
Before the 2020 Israeli legislative election, the New Right again formed the Yamina alliance with The Jewish Home and Tkuma. This helped them work together to win more seats.
Joining the Government
In 2021, after the election, Naftali Bennett and Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid worked to form a new government. This is called a coalition government. Most members of the Yamina party agreed to join this new government with Lapid. This meant they would be part of the ruling group in the Knesset.
What the New Right Party Believes
The New Right party has several main beliefs:
- They want religious and non-religious Jewish people to work together.
- They believe the Land of Israel belongs to the Jewish people.
- They do not support creating a Palestinian state.
- They believe in economic liberalism. This means they want less government control over businesses and the economy.
- They believe in personal freedom and that people should take responsibility for their actions.
- They believe Israel is the special homeland for the Jewish people.
- They support full civil rights for all minorities living in Israel.
- They want to promote Jewish traditions and the Jewish character of the state, but without forcing anyone.
- They are against Judicial activism. This means they believe judges should stick closely to the law and not make new laws from the court.
- They want to help the high-tech industry grow by having less government rules.
- They believe the government should help people who cannot take care of themselves. But they also believe that those who can work, should work.
