Noah Vonleh (born August 24, 1995) is an American professional basketball player. He plays for the Shanghai Sharks in China. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for the Indiana Hoosiers.

Early Life and High School
Noah Vonleh started his high school basketball journey at Haverhill High School in Haverhill, Massachusetts. In 2011, he moved to New Hampton School in New Hampton, New Hampshire. He even repeated his sophomore year there to improve his skills.
Starting Basketball
During the 2011–12 season, Vonleh played very well, averaging 16 points and nine rebounds in each game. By his senior year, he was averaging 17 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. His excellent performance earned him a spot as a McDonald's All-American, which is a big honor for high school basketball players.
On November 10, 2012, Noah decided to play college basketball for Indiana University. He chose Indiana over other top schools like Kansas and North Carolina. He said he liked Indiana because of their good academics and strong basketball team.
College Basketball
Noah Vonleh played only one season for the Indiana Hoosiers in 2013–14. Even in that short time, he made a big impact. He was named the Big Ten Freshman of the Year. This award goes to the best first-year player in the conference. He was also chosen for the third team All-Big Ten.
In 30 games, he averaged 11.3 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. After his successful freshman year, Noah decided to enter the NBA draft on April 3, 2014. This meant he would skip his last three years of college.
Professional Career
Joining the NBA
The Charlotte Hornets picked Noah Vonleh as the ninth overall player in the 2014 NBA draft on June 26, 2014. He signed with the Hornets a month later. Early in his first season, he had surgery for a sports injury. He also spent some time playing for the Fort Wayne Mad Ants in the NBA Development League to gain more experience. Towards the end of his first season, he had some strong games, including one with 16 points and 12 rebounds.
Playing for Different Teams
In 2015, Noah was traded to the Portland Trail Blazers. He got his first start in a game against his old team, the Charlotte Hornets. He continued to improve, especially after another player, Jusuf Nurkić, joined the team in 2017. Noah's points and rebounds went up. He even made his first game-winning shot for Portland against the San Antonio Spurs. He had 11 games with double-digit rebounds that season, including a career-high 19 rebounds against the New Orleans Pelicans. In November 2017, he had another great game with 11 points and 18 rebounds against the Memphis Grizzlies.
In February 2018, Noah was traded to the Chicago Bulls. Later that year, on July 24, 2018, he signed with the New York Knicks. While playing for the Knicks, he achieved a career-high of 22 points and 13 rebounds in a game against the Brooklyn Nets in January 2019.
He then played for the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2019. In February 2020, he was traded to the Denver Nuggets as part of a four-team trade. He briefly signed with the Chicago Bulls again in November 2020 but was later waived.
Overseas and Back Home
In February 2021, Noah signed with the Brooklyn Nets, playing four games before being waived. Later that year, in September 2021, he moved to China to play for the Shanghai Sharks in the Chinese Basketball Association.
In August 2022, Noah signed with his hometown team, the Boston Celtics. He secured a spot on their roster for the 2022 season. However, in January 2023, he was traded to the San Antonio Spurs, who then waived him the same day.
Noah Vonleh returned to the Shanghai Sharks in China, signing with them again on August 17, 2023.
Personal Life
Noah Vonleh's parents are Samuel Vonleh and Renell Kumeh. He has two siblings, Aaronette and Samnell. Aaronette also plays college basketball. Noah's great-grandfather, Chief Blahsue Vonleh, was an important leader in Liberia from 1920 to 1947.
