North Newton is a small city in Harvey County, Kansas, in the United States. As of the 2020 census, about 1,814 people lived there. The city is located just north of Newton and south of Interstate I-135. North Newton is also home to Bethel College.

History of North Newton

For thousands of years, the land that is now Kansas was home to Native American tribes. In 1803, the United States gained most of modern Kansas through the Louisiana Purchase. Later, in 1854, the Kansas Territory was formed.

Kansas officially became the 34th U.S. state in 1861. Harvey County was created in 1872. A post office was first set up in the area on December 19, 1934, and was called Bethel College. It was later renamed North Newton on December 1, 1938. The city itself was officially incorporated in 1938.

North Newton is located right next to the northern part of the city of Newton. The city covers a total area of about 0.90 square miles (2.33 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
