College Football Career
Schofield played college football for the Wisconsin Badgers. After not playing in his first year, he began to see more action on the field. He recorded his first tackle in 2007 and his first sack in 2008. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the quarterback before he can throw the ball.
His best year was in 2009. He had 12 sacks and 24.5 tackles for a loss (when a player is tackled behind the line where the play started). These impressive stats made him one of the top defensive players in his conference and in the entire country. He was named to the First-team All-Big Ten, a major honor in college football.
After his final college season, he played in the 2010 East–West Shrine Game, a special game for top college players. He played so well that he was named the defensive MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the game. Unfortunately, he was injured during practice for another all-star game the next week.

Arizona Cardinals (2010–2012)
Despite his injury, the Arizona Cardinals selected Schofield in the fourth round of the 2010 NFL draft. Teams believed he was very talented, and they were willing to wait for him to get healthy.
Because of his injury, he missed the first part of his rookie season. He made his NFL debut on October 31, 2010. A week later, he forced a fumble on a kickoff, which his team recovered for a touchdown. He recorded his first two NFL sacks later that season.
Schofield continued to play well for the Cardinals. In 2011, he had a game with two sacks. By the 2012 season, he had earned a spot as a starting player. The Cardinals released him in July 2013.
Seattle Seahawks (2013–2014)
Just two days after leaving the Cardinals, Schofield was picked up by the Seattle Seahawks. In his first game with his new team, he recorded a sack against quarterback Cam Newton.
This was a special season for Schofield and the Seahawks. The team was one of the best in the NFL and made it all the way to Super Bowl XLVIII. The Seahawks won the game, making O'Brien Schofield a Super Bowl champion.
After becoming a free agent, he re-signed with the Seahawks for the 2014 season.
Atlanta Falcons (2015–2016)
In March 2015, Schofield signed a contract with the Atlanta Falcons. He played for the Falcons for the 2015 season and part of the 2016 season before being released.
