Oakfield is a small village located in Genesee County, New York, in the United States. In 2010, about 1,813 people lived there. It's part of the larger town of Oakfield, found in the northern part of Genesee County. You can find the village where Route 63 and Route 262 meet. It's also just northwest of a bigger town called Batavia.

Oakfield's Early History
Before it was called Oakfield, this community had other names like "Caryville" and "Plain Brook." The village officially became a village in 1858. That's when its name was changed to "Oakfield."
Where is Oakfield?
The village of Oakfield is in the southern part of the town of Oakfield. It is about 6 miles (10 km) northwest of Batavia, which is the main city of the county. You can get there using New York State Route 63. Oakfield is also about 16 miles (26 km) southeast of Medina. New York State Route 262 goes east for about 4 miles (6 km) to Elba.

In the year 2000, there were 1,805 people living in Oakfield. These people lived in 648 homes, and 465 of these were families. The village had about 2,721 people per square mile (1,051 people per square kilometer). There were 702 housing units, with about 1,058 homes per square mile (409 homes per square kilometer).
Most of the people in the village were White (about 97%). A smaller number were Black or African American (about 1.2%). Very few people were Native American or Asian. About 0.94% of the people were Hispanic or Latino.
