Ogenne-Camptort is a small town in southwestern France. It is located in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques département, which is like a county or administrative area. This town is special because it was formed by joining two very old French villages: Camptort and Ogenne. They became one town on May 12, 1841.

The Story of Ogenne
The name Ogenne can be traced back to the 11th century. A famous historian named Pierre de Marca found records of it. In the 11th century, it was first known as Ogene. Later, in the 13th century, its name changed to Oiena. Around the year 1350, it was called Sent-Jacme d'Ojenne. By 1385, it was known as Oyene. Finally, in 1548, the name became Ogena.
The Story of Camptort
The name Camptort also dates back a long time, to the 13th century. In 1235, it was first recorded as Campus tortus. Over the years, its name also changed several times. In 1385, it was called Cam-tort. By 1540, it was known as Quamptort. In 1674, it appeared as Sanctus Stephanus de Camptort. Later, in 1755, it was called Cantor, and in 1793, it was Camptor.

Ogenne-Camptort is a place where two important streams flow. These streams are like small rivers.
The Saley Stream
One of the streams is called the Saley. The Saley is a tributary of the Gave d'Oloron. A tributary is a smaller stream or river that flows into a larger one. The Gave d'Oloron is a larger river in the region.
The Laà Stream
