Olden Polynice (born November 21, 1964) is a former professional basketball player from Haiti. He played as a center in the National Basketball Association (NBA). He played for teams like the Seattle SuperSonics, Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, Sacramento Kings, and Utah Jazz.

Basketball Career
Olden Polynice went to All Hallows High School in the Bronx, New York. After high school, he played college basketball at the University of Virginia.
College Years
During his first year in college (1983–84), Polynice helped his team, the UVA Cavaliers, reach the NCAA Final Four. They won several games to get there. They beat teams like Iona, Arkansas, Syracuse, and Indiana. In the Final Four, they lost a close game in overtime to the University of Houston.
In his third year (1985–86), Polynice played so well that he was named to the first team All-ACC. This was a big honor for his skills.
Professional Career
After three years in college, Olden Polynice played for a team in Italy called Hamby Rimini in 1986–87. Then, in the 1987 NBA draft, the Chicago Bulls picked him as the 8th player overall. However, he was immediately traded to the Seattle SuperSonics for another player named Scottie Pippen.
Polynice later joined the Detroit Pistons in 1992. He was traded there from the Los Angeles Clippers. Two years later, he was traded again to the Sacramento Kings.
He played in the NBA for 15 seasons. During his career, he averaged 7.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. He was known for being a strong rebounder and a good player inside the paint. Teams often wanted him because he was great at getting offensive rebounds.
Polynice retired from the NBA in 2004. He had a short return to the Clippers before retiring. After his NBA career, he also played for the Los Angeles Aftershock in the ABA league.
After Playing Basketball
After retiring as a player, Polynice became a coach. He coached the Long Beach Breakers in the ABA. In 1997, while still playing, he also worked as a color commentator. This means he helped explain the game during broadcasts for the WNBA's Sacramento Monarchs.
Today, Olden Polynice runs the Polynice Basketball Organization. He started this organization with the help of his nephews, Brian and Jordan Polynice.
Personal Life
Olden Polynice deeply cared about the people in his home country, Haiti. In 1993, he showed his support for them.
