About Orange Cove
Orange Cove is found in the San Joaquin Valley in California. It is about 8 miles (13 km) east of Reedley. The city sits at an elevation of 423 feet (129 meters) above sea level.
Most people living in Orange Cove are of Hispanic background. Many residents work as farmers in the area.
Orange Cove's Climate
Orange Cove has a "hot-summer Mediterranean climate." This means it has hot, dry summers and mild, wet winters. This type of climate is common in California.
History of Orange Cove
Elmer M. Sheridan founded Orange Cove in 1914. He chose the name before large orange groves were planted there. The first post office opened in the same year. Orange Cove officially became a city in 1948.

Most of the people living in Orange Cove were of Hispanic or Latino origin, making up about 92.7% of the population in 2010.
Police Services
For many years, Orange Cove had its own police department. In 1992, the city decided to stop its police department. This was because of money problems.
Instead, the city hired the Fresno County Sheriff's Department to provide police services. However, on December 16, 2009, Orange Cove started its own police department again.
Education in Orange Cove
Schools in Orange Cove are part of the Kings Canyon Unified School District. Students attend several schools within the city.
Orange Cove has one high school, called Orange Cove High School. There is also one middle school, Citrus Middle School. For younger students, there are three elementary schools: Sheridan Elementary School, McCord Elementary School, and A.L. Conner Elementary School.

Orange Cove offers several parks for residents to enjoy. These parks provide places for outdoor activities and relaxation.

Transportation
Orange Cove is connected by State Route 63 (SR 63). This road comes from Orosi and goes around the city. SR 63 continues north towards SR 180.
Another road, County Route J19, goes south from Orange Cove. It connects the city to nearby towns like Reedley and Dinuba.
In the past, Orange Cove had a train service. The Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway used to have a branch line that served the city. The old train station is a historic building. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
