Oron-le-Châtel was a small town in Switzerland. It used to be its own municipality in the Vaud canton. In 2012, it joined with several other towns to form a new, bigger municipality called Oron.

History of Oron-le-Châtel

Oron-le-Châtel was first mentioned in old records in 1137. That's almost 900 years ago! It was known as Oruns back then.

Geography of Oron-le-Châtel

Oron-le-Châtel covered about 1.3 square kilometers (0.5 square miles). A lot of its land, about half, was used for farming. About 30% was covered in forests. Around 14% had buildings and roads.

The town is located on the right side of the Broye river. Until 2006, it was part of the Oron District. After that, it became part of the new Lavaux-Oron District.
