Owenton is a small city in Kentucky, United States. It is the main town and county seat of Owen County. In 2010, about 1,327 people lived there.
Owenton is located where two important roads meet: U.S. Route 127 and Kentucky Route 22. It's roughly halfway between the bigger cities of Louisville and Cincinnati.

History of Owenton
Owenton was started in 1822. It got its name from Owen County, which was named after Colonel Abraham Owen. He was a brave pioneer who died in a battle called the Battle of Tippecanoe.
The town officially became a city on December 18, 1828. It had to be re-established as a city in 1849. The beautiful courthouse, built in the Greek Revival style, was constructed between 1857 and 1858. Owenton didn't grow as fast as some other towns in the late 1800s because a railroad was never built there.

- Joseph L. Rhinock (1863–1926) served as a U.S. Representative for Kentucky.
- Dale Roberts (1940–2010) was an American relief pitcher in Major League Baseball. He played for the New York Yankees.
- Abraham O. Smoot (1815–1895) was an important Mormon pioneer. He was also the second Mayor of Salt Lake City, Utah.
- Arnold E. True (1901–1979) was a highly decorated Rear admiral in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
