Panther Mountain has an interesting name! It was named after a man known as The Panther. He was a Mohegan person who lived in the Town of Richfield a long time ago, in the early to mid-1800s. This mountain was his favorite spot for hunting.
Water from Panther Mountain
Mountains often play a big role in where water flows. The water that falls on the east side of Panther Mountain flows into a stream called Fly Creek. On the other hand, water from the west side of the mountain flows into Oaks Creek. From Oaks Creek, the water then makes its way into Canadarago Lake.
