Patrick Patterson (born March 14, 1989) is an American former professional basketball player. He played in the NBA for several teams. These include the Houston Rockets, Sacramento Kings, Toronto Raptors, Oklahoma City Thunder, and Los Angeles Clippers.

Patrick Patterson's Early Life
Patrick Patterson was born in Washington, D.C.. He grew up in Huntington, West Virginia. He finished high school at Huntington High School in 2007.
High School Basketball Success
During his time in high school, Patrick helped his team win three state championships in a row. In his final year, he won his third championship. This was with the help of another great player, O. J. Mayo. Experts like Rivals.com thought Patrick was a top player. They ranked him as the 3rd best power forward in the nation in 2007. He was also named a McDonald's All-American, which is a big honor for high school basketball players.
College Basketball Career
Patrick Patterson chose to play college basketball for the University of Kentucky (UK). This was a big decision, as many top schools wanted him. He played for different coaches during his time at Kentucky.
Freshman Year at Kentucky
During his first year (2007–08), Patrick was a star player. He scored about 16.4 points and grabbed 7.7 rebounds per game. He also blocked 1.2 shots and made 0.8 steals. He shot very well, making 57% of his shots. Sadly, he got a foot injury and missed the rest of the season. At that time, he said he wanted to stay at Kentucky.
Sophomore Year Highlights
In his second year (2008–09), Patrick and his teammate Jodie Meeks were a very strong duo. They were one of the best scoring pairs in Kentucky's history. On December 22, 2008, Patrick scored a career-high 33 points in one game. He averaged 17.9 points and 9.3 rebounds that season. After the season, he thought about joining the 2009 NBA draft. But he decided to return to Kentucky for another year.
Junior Year and NBA Draft
For his junior year (2009–10), Patrick was still a key player. But new talented players like John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins joined the team. This meant Patrick didn't have to be the main scorer anymore. He also worked on his outside shot and started making three-pointers. That season, he helped Kentucky win the SEC tournament. They also became a top team in the NCAA tournament. In April 2010, Patrick decided to enter the 2010 NBA draft. He had already finished his college degree.
Professional Basketball Career
Patrick Patterson was chosen by the Houston Rockets in the 2010 NBA draft. He was the 14th player picked overall.
Houston Rockets (2010–2013)
After being drafted, Patrick spent some time playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. This team is part of the NBA Development League. He played well there, averaging 18.3 points and 10.3 rebounds. He then joined the Rockets and played his first NBA game in December 2010. When a teammate got injured, Patrick started his first NBA game on March 14, 2011. He later became the main starting power forward for the Rockets in the 2012–13 season.
Sacramento Kings (2013)
In February 2013, Patrick was traded to the Sacramento Kings. He moved with two other players in a trade deal.
Toronto Raptors (2013–2017)
Later in 2013, Patrick was traded again, this time to the Toronto Raptors. He joined the Raptors with three other players. In July 2014, he signed a new contract to stay with the Raptors for three more years.
Oklahoma City Thunder (2017–2019)
In July 2017, Patrick signed with the Oklahoma City Thunder. He had a knee surgery in August 2017. In August 2019, he left the Thunder and became a free agent.
Los Angeles Clippers (2019–2021)
Patrick signed with the Los Angeles Clippers in August 2019. He played for them until 2021. He later signed with the Portland Trail Blazers in September 2021 but was waived before the regular season began.

Beyond Basketball
After his basketball career, Patrick Patterson started a film company. On October 19, 2021, he and Joel Reilly launched a company called Undisputed Pictures.
