Paul Reed (born June 14, 1999), also known as "BBall Paul", is a professional basketball player from America. He plays for the Detroit Pistons in the National Basketball Association (NBA). Before joining the NBA, he played college basketball for the DePaul Blue Demons.

Early Life and High School Basketball
Paul Reed grew up in Orlando, Florida. He went to Wekiva High School. Paul grew a lot during his high school years. He was 6 feet 2 inches tall as a freshman. By his senior year, he was 6 feet 8 inches tall.
As a senior, he was a star player. He scored about 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds per game. He was named the best player in Central Florida. Paul led his team, the Mustangs, to the state championship game. He chose to play college basketball at DePaul.
College Basketball Career
Paul Reed started playing for DePaul as a freshman. He played in 28 games, mostly coming off the bench. He averaged 3.6 points and 3.1 rebounds. By the end of his first season, he started getting more playing time.
Becoming a Better Player
In his second year, Paul really improved. He averaged 12.3 points and led the Big East Conference in rebounds. He was named the Big East Conference Most Improved Player. He helped his team reach the finals of the 2019 College Basketball Invitational.
For his junior season, Paul was expected to be one of the best players in the Big East. He had ten games where he scored double-digits in both points and rebounds. He even scored 23 points in a big win against No. 5 Butler. Paul finished his junior year averaging 15.1 points and 10.7 rebounds. He decided to enter the 2020 NBA draft after this season.
Professional Basketball Career
Philadelphia 76ers (2020–2024)
The Philadelphia 76ers picked Paul Reed in the 2020 NBA draft. He was the 58th player chosen overall. On December 3, 2020, he signed a special contract. This meant he would play for both the 76ers and their G League team, the Delaware Blue Coats.
Paul played his first NBA game on January 4, 2021. He scored two points in a win against the Charlotte Hornets. He also played for the Blue Coats in the G League. There, he won two big awards: Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year.
In March 2021, the 76ers gave Paul a regular NBA contract. On November 27, 2022, he had a great game against the Orlando Magic. He scored 12 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. In the 2023 playoffs, Paul made important free throws. These helped the 76ers win a key game against the Boston Celtics.
In July 2023, Paul signed a contract offer from the Utah Jazz. But the 76ers quickly matched the offer. This meant he stayed with Philadelphia. On January 27, 2024, Paul scored a career-high 30 points. He also had 13 rebounds in a game against the Denver Nuggets. The 76ers later waived him on July 6, 2024.
Detroit Pistons (2024–present)
On July 9, 2024, the Detroit Pistons picked up Paul Reed. He was waived by the Pistons on December 14, 2024. However, he signed with them again the very next day.
On December 19, 2024, Paul was involved in an argument with another player, Jordan Clarkson. He was fined $15,000 for this on December 21. Paul agreed to a new two-year contract with the Pistons on June 30, 2025.

Personal Life
Paul Reed's father, also named Paul, played college basketball. He then played professionally in Europe. Paul has four sisters. His uncle, Mike Sims-Walker, used to play in the National Football League (NFL).
Paul is also known on social media for selling his "Out the Mud" hoodies. This phrase comes from a tweet he posted when he didn't get to play in a game.
