Perry Firestone King, born on April 30, 1948, is an American actor. He is well-known for his many roles in TV shows and movies.
He was nominated for a Golden Globe Award. This was for his part in the TV movie The Hasty Heart (1983). This movie was a new version of an older film from 1949.

Early Life and Education
Perry King was born in Alliance, Ohio. His father was a doctor. His grandfather, Maxwell Perkins, was a famous editor for a publishing company.
King studied drama at Yale University. He also attended Juilliard, a well-known school for arts.
Perry King's Acting Career
Perry King started his movie career in 1972. His first film was Slaughterhouse-Five. In 1974, he played Chico Tyrell in The Lords of Flatbush. A year later, in 1975, he was Hammond Maxwell in Mandingo.
Big Roles and Famous Auditions
Since the 1970s, King has been in many movies and TV shows. He even tried out for the role of Han Solo in Star Wars. That part eventually went to Harrison Ford. However, Perry King did play Han Solo in the Star Wars radio shows. He also voiced the character in the radio versions of the sequels.
In 1983, he starred in a TV series called The Quest. The next year, in 1984, he was nominated for a Golden Globe award. This was for his role in the TV movie The Hasty Heart. In the same year, he got the part of Cody Allen in the TV series Riptide.
Later TV and Movie Appearances
In 1993, King starred in a TV show based on a book by Sidney Sheldon. The show was called A Stranger in the Mirror. In 1995, he played Hayley Armstrong on Melrose Place.
He also appeared as Richard Williams in the NBC TV series Titans in 2000. In 2004, he played the President of the United States in the movie The Day After Tomorrow.
Perry King has also been a guest star on many TV shows. These include Spin City, Will & Grace, Eve, and Cold Case. He has also done voice acting for cartoons. He was the voice of Samson in Samson & Delilah (1985). He also voiced Randall in an episode of SWAT Kats: The Radical Squadron.
Personal Life and Hobbies
Perry King has been married and divorced twice. He has two daughters and one granddaughter.
He loves motorcycles and is a big fan. He was even featured on a TV show called California's Gold. On the show, he talked about his collection of motorcycles and sidecars. In 2008, he joined the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) Board of Directors.
