Pikmin 3 is an exciting real-time strategy and puzzle video game made by Nintendo. It first came out for the Wii U video game console in 2013. It is the third main game in the Pikmin series, following Pikmin and Pikmin 2. In this colorful adventure, players visit a mysterious wild world to gather food and solve fun environmental puzzles. Later, an upgraded version called Pikmin 3 Deluxe arrived on the Nintendo Switch console.

How to Play Pikmin 3
In this game, you lead tiny plant-like critters called Pikmin. You can guide up to 100 Pikmin at the same time! Players use these helpful helpers to carry items, smash barriers, build bridges, and defend against wild bugs.
Different Pikmin types have special powers that match their bright colors:
- Red Pikmin resist fire and fight with great strength.
- Yellow Pikmin do not get hurt by electricity and can be thrown extra high.
- Blue Pikmin breathe easily in water and can swim safely.
- Rock Pikmin can shatter hard glass walls and cannot be crushed flat.
- Winged Pikmin have pink bodies and fly over water to carry things through the sky.
The player controls three tiny alien explorers named Alph, Brittany, and Charlie. You can switch between these leaders to divide tasks across the map. The game lets you use the Wii U GamePad touch screen as a handy map called the KopPad. Players can also enjoy a two-player multiplayer challenge called Bingo Battle, or team up in fun cooperative challenges in Mission Mode.
The Story of the Great Mission
The story takes place during a great famine on the distant planet Koppai. The people there ran out of meals because of poor planning. Koppai sends three brave space explorers to planet PNF-404 to search for tasty fruit seeds.
When their spaceship crashes, the trio gets separated across the strange wilderness. Luckily, they discover the friendly Pikmin! Working together, they find each other and track down giant fruits to make nutritious juice. Along the way, they follow clues left behind by legendary explorer Captain Olimar. They must rescue Olimar and recover their ship's missing cosmic-drive key so they can fly back home.
How the Game Was Made and Updated
Famous game maker Shigeru Miyamoto first planned this adventure for the older Wii console. His team later moved the project to the Wii U to take advantage of high-definition visuals and touch controls. Nintendo showed the game at events like E3 before launching it worldwide in 2013. Extra stages were later released as downloadable content. In 2020, game studio Eighting helped make Pikmin 3 Deluxe for the Switch. This edition added new story missions, funny creature logs, and shared screen options for friends to play together.
