On January 31, 2018, Paramount Pictures shared big plans for the Ology book series. They announced that they were working on a movie series based on all 13 Ology books, including Pirateology. Famous writers like Jeff Pinkner and Michael Chabon were part of the team. The idea was to create seven interconnected movie stories. Akiva Goldsman was chosen to oversee and produce this large film project.
