Awards and Recognition
Pirateology has received special honors. In 2007, it was named a Children's Illustrated Honor Book. This award came from the 2007 Book Sense Book of the Year Awards.

Video Games Based on the Book
In October 2007, a company called Codemasters announced exciting news. They planned to create video games based on Pirateology. These games were going to be made for the Wii and Nintendo DS systems. The company Nik Nak was set to develop the Wii versions of the games.
Film Adaptation Plans
On January 31, 2018, Paramount Pictures shared big plans for the Ology book series. They announced that they were working on a movie series based on all 13 Ology books, including Pirateology. Famous writers like Jeff Pinkner and Michael Chabon were part of the team. The idea was to create seven interconnected movie stories. Akiva Goldsman was chosen to oversee and produce this large film project.
