Pizza Celentano (Ukrainian: Піца Челентано) is a popular Ukrainian fast-food restaurant chain. It specializes in serving delicious pizzas quickly. The company started in 1997 in the city of Lviv, Ukraine. By 2018, there were over 150 Pizza Celentano restaurants operating across Ukraine.
You can often find these restaurants in busy places. This includes motorways, airports, railway stations, main streets, shopping malls, and places where big events happen. They sell whole pizzas with many different toppings. Some toppings are always available, while others change with the seasons. The Story of Pizza Celentano
How It All Began
The very first Pizza Celentano restaurant opened its doors in Lviv in August 1998. This first pizzeria had a special look inside and a unique way of serving customers. It also used its own original pizza recipes.
Growing Across Ukraine
In 1999, after a second pizzeria opened in Lviv, Pizza Celentano began to grow even more. Two new restaurants opened in other cities: Kyiv and Khmelnytsky. These were the first restaurants to open as part of a "franchise" system. This means other people could open a Pizza Celentano restaurant using the company's name and recipes.
The chain continued to expand quickly. By 2007, Pizza Celentano opened its 100th restaurant in Kyiv. As of 2018, there were more than 150 restaurants operating under the Pizza Celentano name throughout Ukraine.
EgoIsty Club
In December 2006, Pizza Celentano launched a special program called EgoIsty (ЕgoЇсти). This program is like a club for loyal customers. It was started in all regions of Ukraine.
When you join the EgoIsty Club, you can get discounts that add up over time. Members also get special benefits from partners and organizers of the program. The EgoIsty Club actually includes several different fast-food restaurant chains. Besides "Pizza Celentano," it also includes "Potato House," "Cafe Point," and Japanese food restaurants called "Yapi."
About the Name
The name "Pizza Celentano" comes from a famous Italian singer and actor named Adriano Celentano. He is a very well-known person.
Adriano Celentano has sometimes said he was not happy about his name being used for businesses, including this restaurant chain. When Pizza Celentano started opening restaurants in Moldova, there was a disagreement about using his name. However, the restaurant chain continued to use the name. The owners of the pizzeria try not to mention "Adriano" directly. This is because the Italian singer has his own registered trademarks, like "Clan Celentano" and "Adriano Celentano."
Creative Advertising
Pizza Celentano has a unique way of advertising. Sometimes, when couriers (people who deliver food) have free time, they help create advertisements on sidewalks. They use stencils and white paint to make these ads.
