The Platinum Triangle is a special area in Anaheim, California, USA. It's changing from a quiet place with businesses and factories into a lively city spot. This big project will add lots of homes, tall office buildings, and shops. The area is about 820 acres (332 hectares) and includes two major sports venues: the Honda Center and Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

Where is the Platinum Triangle?

The Platinum Triangle is located in Anaheim. Its borders are generally set by Interstate 5, the Santa Ana River, and Cerritos Avenue. A small part to the south is in the city of Orange, so it's not part of the Triangle. The main roads that go through this area are State College Boulevard and Katella Avenue.

Nearby Fun Places

The district is just east of the Anaheim Resort. This is a huge tourist spot with the famous Disneyland Resort, the Anaheim Convention Center, and many hotels. It's also north of The Block at Orange, which is a large outdoor shopping center.

The Platinum Triangle is home to Angel Stadium of Anaheim, where the Angels baseball team plays. Right next to the stadium is The Grove of Anaheim, a popular place for concerts and shows. The Honda Center, where the Anaheim Ducks hockey team plays, is also in the Platinum Triangle.

What's New in the Platinum Triangle?

When all the changes are finished, the Platinum Triangle will be a vibrant urban area. It will have homes, restaurants, shops, and entertainment all in one place. City planners hope it will become a main downtown area for Orange County. This new area will compete with other big districts like South Coast Metro and Irvine Business Complex.

Old industrial buildings are slowly moving out to make room for new mid-rise apartments, retail stores, and tall office buildings. In 2008, Anaheim city planners decided to make the project even bigger. They planned to double the number of homes and office spaces. This meant building over 18,000 homes and millions of square feet for businesses and offices.

By August 2009, some projects were already done, like the Stadium Lofts and Gateway apartment homes. New roads were also being built near Angel Stadium, including Market Street, which will be a central street for the area.

Future Plans for Sports Venues

In 2020, the company that runs the Honda Center announced big plans for a project called OC Vibe. This project will cost $3 billion and include apartments, offices, and entertainment venues around the arena. It's inspired by L.A. Live, a similar complex in Los Angeles. The first buildings are expected to open in 2024.

Around the same time, the Los Angeles Angels baseball team also shared plans to build similar developments around Angel Stadium. Both of these projects will add a lot of new buildings and life to the Platinum Triangle.

Getting Around the Platinum Triangle

City planners want the Platinum Triangle to be a place where it's easy to get around without a car. This is why they built the Anaheim Regional Transportation Intermodal Center, or ARTIC. ARTIC is a big transportation hub that replaced the old Anaheim Amtrak Station.

ARTIC serves Amtrak trains like the Pacific Surfliner and Metrolink trains. It is also planned to be a stop for the future California High-Speed Rail system. ARTIC could also be a main transfer point for local bus routes. Planners hope that these great transportation options will help prevent too much traffic as more people move to and work in the area.
