Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire is a fun video game for the Game Boy Advance system. It came out in 2003 and was made by a company called Jupiter, and published by Nintendo. This game is a sequel (which means it's the next game in a series) to the first Pokémon Pinball game that was on the Game Boy Color. It mixes the exciting world of Pokémon with classic pinball action!

What is Pokémon Pinball?

Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire is a unique game that combines two popular things: Pokémon and pinball. Imagine a pinball machine, but instead of just hitting a ball around, you're trying to catch Pokémon! The game uses characters and ideas from the Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire video games.

How to Play

The main goal of the game is to get a high score, just like in regular pinball. You use flippers to hit a Poké Ball around the pinball table. As the ball bounces off bumpers and targets, you earn points. But there's more to it than just points!

Catching Pokémon

One of the coolest parts of the game is catching Pokémon. Each pinball table has special areas you need to hit to start "Catch 'Em Mode." When this mode begins, a Pokémon appears on the screen. You have a limited time to hit the Poké Ball into certain spots on the table. If you hit them enough times, you can catch the Pokémon! There are many different Pokémon to find and catch, just like in the main Pokémon games.

Evolving Pokémon

After you catch a Pokémon, you can also try to evolve it. To do this, you need to collect special items or hit certain targets on the table. When you succeed, your Pokémon will evolve into its next form, just like in the regular Pokémon games. This adds another layer of strategy and fun to the pinball action.

Battle Mode

Sometimes, you'll enter a "Battle Mode" where you face off against a wild Pokémon or even a Gym Leader. In these battles, you use your pinball skills to attack the opponent. Hitting specific targets on the table will deal damage. If you win the battle, you get bonus points and sometimes even a special item.

Game Boards

The game features two main pinball tables: the Ruby Field and the Sapphire Field. Each table has its own unique layout, challenges, and Pokémon that appear.

  • The Ruby Field often features Pokémon that are found in the Pokémon Ruby game.
  • The Sapphire Field has Pokémon from the Pokémon Sapphire game.

You can switch between these tables, and each one offers different ways to score points and catch Pokémon.

Why Kids Love It

Kids aged 12-15 often enjoy Pokémon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire because it's a fun mix of action and collecting. It's easy to learn how to play, but it takes skill to master. The thrill of catching a rare Pokémon or evolving one makes the game exciting. Plus, it's a great way to enjoy the Pokémon world in a different style of game!
