Poppy Delevingne was born in London, England. She is one of three daughters of Charles Hamar Delevingne, who works with properties, and Pandora Anne Delevingne. She grew up in an area of London called Belgravia. Poppy went to a school called Bedales School.

She has two sisters. Her younger sister, Cara Delevingne, is also a famous model and actress. Their maternal grandfather was Sir Jocelyn Stevens, who was important in publishing and heritage.

Poppy Delevingne was good friends with fashion designer Matthew Williamson. She also used to share an apartment in New York with actress Sienna Miller.

In October 2012, Poppy got engaged to James Cook. He used to be a model and now works for his family's aerospace company. They got married in May 2014. It was announced in March 2023 that Poppy and James Cook had separated.
