How Poppycock Began
The exact start of Poppycock is a bit of a mystery! One story says a person named Howard Vair created it in the 1950s. He supposedly made it as a snack for his road trips.
In 1960, a company from Switzerland called Wander bought the rights to Poppycock. They started making it in their factory in Villa Park, Illinois.
However, in 1969, another person named Arnold Rebane got a patent for a snack like Poppycock. He also worked for the Wander Company. This makes the early history a little unclear.
Who Owns Poppycock Now?
Later, in 1991, a company called Lincoln Snacks Company bought Poppycock. Then, on September 7, 2007, a bigger food company, ConAgra Foods, bought Lincoln Snacks.
Today, Poppycock is also sold alongside the Orville Redenbacher's brand of popcorn.
