Potsdam is a small, unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that isn't officially a town or city. It's located in Farmington Township, Olmsted County, Minnesota, in the United States. You can find it close to the towns of Elgin and Rochester. State Highway 247 (MN 247) runs right by Potsdam. The border between Olmsted and Wabasha counties is also very close.
A Look Back: Potsdam's History
Potsdam started around the year 1860. It was named after a city called Potsdam in Germany. For a while, Potsdam even had its own post office. This post office was open from 1873 until 1905.
