Praden (also known as Prada in Romansh) is a charming village located in Switzerland. It is part of the municipality of Tschiertschen-Praden, which is in the Plessur district of the canton of Graubünden.
Praden used to be its own independent municipality. However, on January 1, 2009, it joined with the nearby village of Tschiertschen to form the new municipality called Tschiertschen-Praden.

History of Praden
Praden has a long history! The village was first mentioned in official records way back in 1157. At that time, it was known by the name de Pradis.
Geography and Land Use
Praden covers an area of about 6.4 square kilometers (which is about 2.5 square miles). A big part of this land, about 67.9%, is covered by forests. This means there are lots of trees and green spaces around the village.
About 26.2% of the land is used for farming. This includes fields where crops might grow or areas for animals to graze. Only a small part, about 1.1%, has buildings or roads. The rest of the land, about 4.8%, includes things like rivers or mountains that can't be farmed or built on.
The village is nestled on the mountain slopes. It sits above the left side of the beautiful Schanfigger valley. Praden is actually made up of two smaller, spread-out villages: Innerpraden and Usserpraden. Innerpraden is about 1,100 meters (3,600 feet) above sea level, and Usserpraden is a bit higher at about 1,250 meters (4,100 feet).
Population and People
As of 2008, Praden had a population of 109 people. About 8.3% of these residents were from other countries. Over the ten years before 2008, the number of people living in Praden went down by about 14.5%.
Most people in Praden speak German. In 2000, about 97% of the population spoke German. A small number of people also spoke French (1%) and Romansh (1%).
In 2000, the population was almost evenly split between males and females. About 48.1% were male, and 51.9% were female.
