Maladers is a small village in Switzerland. It used to be its own town, called a municipality. Maladers is located in the Graubünden canton, within the Plessur Region. On January 1, 2020, Maladers joined with the larger city of Chur.

History of Maladers
Maladers is an old settlement. The first time anyone wrote about Maladers was in the year 1156. Back then, it was called de Maladru.
Geography and Landscape
Maladers covers an area of about 7.61 square kilometers. A big part of this land, about 63.7%, is covered by forests. About 28.1% of the land is used for farming. This includes fields, grasslands, and areas for grazing animals in the mountains.
A small part, about 4.2%, has buildings and roads. The rest of the land is not used for farming or building. Over the years, the amount of forest has grown, and the amount of farmland has slightly decreased.
Maladers is located at the entrance to the Schanfigg valley. The main part of Maladers is a haufendorf village. This means it's an old village that grew without a plan. Its buildings are often close together around a central area. Maladers also includes smaller areas called hamlets, like Sax and Brandacker.
People and Population
Maladers has a population of about 500 people. A small number of people living here, about 8.5%, are from other countries. The number of people in Maladers has stayed pretty steady over the last few years.
Young people, aged 0 to 19, make up about 15.4% of the population. Adults, aged 20 to 64, are the largest group at 64.2%. Older adults, over 64, make up about 20.4% of the population.
Most people in Maladers speak German. About 95.5% of the population uses German as their main language. A smaller number of people speak Romansh (2.2%) or Italian (1.0%).
