Who is Next in Line to the Throne?
Princess Charlotte is third in the line of succession to the British throne. She is behind her father, Prince William, and her older brother, Prince George.
A special rule called the Perth Agreement was put in place. This rule changed how the line of succession works. Before, younger brothers would rank above older sisters. Now, the oldest child, regardless of gender, comes first.
Because of this rule, Princess Charlotte did not move down the line of succession. This happened even when her younger brother Louis was born in April 2018. This makes her the first British princess in history to rank above a brother in the line of succession.
