Concetta Suzanne Kirschner (born February 25, 1971), known as Princess Superstar, is an American rapper and DJ. She is famous for her unique music style. She has had two songs become big hits in the UK. "Bad Babysitter" reached number 11 on the UK Singles Chart in 2002. Later, "Perfect (Exceeder)" climbed to number three in 2007.

Princess Superstar has worked with many well-known artists. These include Moby, The Prodigy, Arthur Baker, Prince Paul, and Grandmaster Flash. She describes her music as "flip-flop." This means it's a mix of hip hop, electroclash, and electronic sounds. In 2014, she started her own reality show, I Love Princess Superstar, on YouTube. She also released a children's music album in 2018 called These Are the Magic Days.

Early Life and Education

Concetta Kirschner was born in Spanish Harlem, New York City. Her father was Jewish with roots in Russia and Poland. Her mother was Sicilian-American and converted to Judaism. Concetta sees herself as a spiritual Jew. Both of her parents were psychologists.

When she was young, her family moved to rural Pennsylvania. Then they moved to the suburbs of Philadelphia. She went to Germantown Academy, a private high school. There, she was part of the Theatre Club and the Black Student Union. At 17, she moved back to New York City. She studied drama at NYU and earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. She is also a member of Mensa, a group for people with high IQs.

Music Journey and Career Highlights

When Princess Superstar moved to New York City, she started playing the guitar. Her interest in music grew stronger than her interest in acting. She joined an all-girl band called Gamma Rays. They released a song called "Lovely." Around the same time, she began making hip hop songs on a 4-track recorder.

Becoming Princess Superstar

In 1994, Concetta made a demo tape. She called it Mitch Better Get My Bunny. She used the name "Princess Superstar" for the first time. She sent the tape to College Music Journal and to the Beastie Boys' record label, Grand Royal Records. She ended up signing with Dark Beloved Cloud Records. They released her song "I'm White."

In 1995, she formed a band with three musicians. They signed with 5th Beetle Records. They recorded her first album, Strictly Platinum. This album made her known as one of the few white female rappers.

Starting Her Own Record Label

In 1997, Kirschner started her own record label. She first named it "A Big Rich Major Label." Later, she changed it to "Corrupt Conglomerate." She put together a new group of musicians. They recorded CEO, an album about how companies work.

Her next album, Last of the Great 20th Century Composers, came out in 2000. It included a remix by Blues Explosion.

Collaborations and Hit Songs

In 2001, Princess Superstar worked with Kool Keith on the song "Keith and Me." This song was part of her album Princess Superstar Is. The album also featured Beth Orton and Bahamadia. The single "Bad Babysitter" became a big hit, reaching number 11 in the UK.

For her 2005 album, My Machine, she worked with many producers. These included Arthur Baker, Jacques Lu Cont, and Armand Van Helden. This album's song "Perfect (Exceeder)" reached number 3 on the UK chart in 2007.

In 2008, she sang on the song "Licky" by Larry Tee. This song was used in movies like Get Him to the Greek. In 2009, she was featured on Grandmaster Flash's album The Bridge. She appeared alongside famous rappers like Snoop Dogg and Busta Rhymes.

Princess Superstar produced New York rapper Kalae All Day's first album in 2010. In 2011, she released "Xmas Swagger." Her sixth studio album, The New Evolution, came out in 2013. Her fans helped fund this album through Pledge Music.
