The Puna ibis (which scientists call Plegadis ridgwayi) is a special type of bird. It belongs to the Threskiornithidae family, which includes other ibises and spoonbills. This bird lives in South America, in countries like Argentina, Bolivia, Chile, and Peru.
You can often find the Puna ibis in wet places like swamps, marshes, and lakes. Most of these birds live high up in the Andean mountains, in a cool, high-altitude area called the puna. Sometimes, though, you might spot them closer to sea level. Interestingly, the Uru people, who live in these areas, have even raised these ibises for their meat and eggs!
