A Look Back: Purcell's History
Purcell became a town in 1903. It was named after James Purcell, who was a local law enforcement officer. A post office opened in Purcell in 1905, helping people send and receive mail.
Purcell's Location and Geography
Purcell is found between two rivers: the Spring River and the North Fork Spring River. It is about eight miles northwest of a larger city called Carthage.
If you travel one mile east from Purcell on Missouri Route D, you will reach Alba. Traveling one mile northwest will take you to Neck City.
