History of Alba
Alba was officially planned and mapped out in 1882. The person who became the first postmaster of the area gave the community his own last name. A post office has been open in Alba since 1860.
Geography of Alba
Alba is located between two rivers: the Spring River and the North Fork Spring River. It is about seven miles northwest of Carthage. The city of Purcell is just one mile west of Alba on Missouri Route D. Neck City is two miles to the northwest.
The United States Census Bureau says that Alba covers a total area of about 0.33 square miles (0.85 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

2010 Census Information
In 2010, the census showed that 555 people lived in Alba. There were 227 households, and 167 of these were families. The city had about 1,682 people per square mile. There were 251 homes in total.
Most of the people living in Alba were White (94.4%). There were also African American, Native American, and people of two or more races. About 2.3% of the population identified as Hispanic or Latino.
Many households (40.1%) had children under 18 living with them. About half (51.1%) were married couples. Some households were led by a single parent.
