Pureba is a special place in South Australia. It's located on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula, which is a large piece of land sticking out into the ocean. Pureba is about 528 kilometers (around 328 miles) north-west of Adelaide, the capital city of South Australia. It's also about 52 kilometers (32 miles) north-east of Ceduna and 90 kilometers (56 miles) north of Streaky Bay, which are two nearby towns.
About Pureba
Pureba is known as a 'locality'. This means it's a specific area of land, much like a suburb or a town, but it might not have many people living there. The boundaries for Pureba were first set up in January 1999. Its name comes from Pureba Hill, which is a hill found within this area.
What's Pureba Like?
The main purpose of the land in Pureba is to protect nature. A big part of Pureba is the Pureba Conservation Park. This park helps keep the plants and animals safe. Even though it's a conservation area, some activities like exploring for minerals and mining are allowed, but only under special rules from the National Parks and Wildlife Act 1972. This law helps make sure that any activities don't harm the environment too much.
Who Manages Pureba?
Pureba is part of several different government areas. For national elections, it's in the federal Division of Grey. For state elections, it's in the electoral district of Giles. When it comes to local services, Pureba is managed by parts of the District Council of Ceduna and the District Council of Streaky Bay. Some parts of Pureba are also in the state's Pastoral Unincorporated Area, which means they are not part of a local council and are managed directly by the state government.
