About Queen Anne's Location

Queen Anne is located at a specific point on the map: 38.919039 degrees north and 75.952827 degrees west.

The town is quite small, covering an area of about 0.13 square miles (0.34 square kilometers). All of this area is land.

A stream called Tuckahoe Creek flows near the town. It's believed that Frederick Douglass, a very important historical figure, was born a few miles south of Queen Anne, close to this creek.

Major roads like Maryland Route 404 pass just north of the town. You can also find Tuckahoe State Park a short distance north of Route 404. The line between Talbot County and Queen Anne's County actually goes right through the middle of the town!

A Look at Queen Anne's History

The area where Queen Anne is now was once part of a large farm. In the 1850s, this farm belonged to Jacob Morgan. At first, there was only a small house. But in 1864, Mr. Morgan built a bigger house, which people called "the mansion house." Because of this, the area was known as Morganville.

Later, a railroad was being built. In 1878, the railroad bought land for a station across Tuckahoe Creek, in Queen Anne's County. When the station finally opened around 1882, it was named Queen Anne. This is how the town got its name!
