Rüthi is a town, also known as a municipality, located in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland. It's a part of the beautiful Rheintal region.

History of Rüthi
Rüthi has a long history! It was first mentioned in old records way back in the year 820. Back then, it was known by the name Reuti. For a long time, until 1994, it was called Rüthi (Rheintal). This helped people know it was in the Rheintal area.
Geography of Rüthi
Rüthi covers an area of about 9.3 square kilometers (about 3.6 square miles). A large part of this land, almost half (47.9%), is used for farming. Forests cover about 33.8% of the area. The rest of the land is used for buildings and roads (13.7%), or it's made up of rivers and lakes (4.6%).
The municipality includes the villages of Rüthi and Büchel. It also includes Hirschensprung and the southern part of the small settlement called Rehag. In the past, other villages were part of Rüthi. For example, Kobelwald was part of Rüthi until 1831. Lienz was also part of Rüthi from 1803 to 1831.

The coat of arms for Rüthi has a special design. It shows a golden deer jumping between two silver cliffs. Above the deer, there are two silver stars. The background color of the shield is blue.
People and Population
Rüthi has a population of about 2,500 people. As of 2007, about 18.1% of the people living in Rüthi were from other countries. Many different languages are spoken here. Most people (90.1%) speak German. Other languages spoken include Albanian (3.9%) and Serbo-Croatian (1.4%).
The population of Rüthi has been growing slowly over the last 10 years. It has increased by about 2.2%.
