Robert William McQuarters, II (born December 21, 1976) is a former American football player. He played as a cornerback in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the San Francisco 49ers in the first round of the 1998 NFL draft. Before joining the NFL, he played college football for the Oklahoma State Cowboys.

College Football Star
McQuarters was known for being a very flexible player in college football. He played for Oklahoma State. He could play in different positions like defensive back, wide receiver, and kick returner.
Playing Multiple Positions
During his junior year, he started nine games as a wide receiver. He ended his college career with eight catches for 245 yards. He also scored two touchdowns. He ran for 69 yards on two tries, scoring one touchdown.
Record-Breaking Returns
McQuarters was excellent at returning punts. He set a school record with 521 punt return yards. This was an average of 16.3 yards per return. He also had one touchdown from a punt return. He added 195 yards from eight kickoff returns.
Basketball at Oklahoma State
Besides football, McQuarters also played basketball for Oklahoma State. He played for three years. Before college, he played basketball at Booker T. Washington High School in Tulsa.

Joining the 49ers and Lions
Steve Mariucci was a coach who liked McQuarters's skills. Mariucci drafted McQuarters for the 49ers in 1998. Later, when Mariucci was coaching the Detroit Lions, he signed McQuarters again.
Super Bowl Champion with the Giants
Before the 2006 season, McQuarters joined the New York Giants. He made a very important play in a playoff game in 2007. He had a key interception against the Dallas Cowboys. This play helped the Giants win the game.
McQuarters and the Giants went on to win the Super Bowl XLII. They beat the New England Patriots. This earned him a Super Bowl ring.

Personal Life and Interests
McQuarters was known for his long dreadlocks. He grew them starting in 1998. In 2007, he cut his hair and donated it to Locks of Love. This organization makes wigs for children who have lost their hair due to illness.
He was also known for wearing different kinds of band-aids under his eyes. Sometimes, these band-aids even featured the cartoon character SpongeBob SquarePants.
