When he was younger, Rajiv won all the junior singles titles in England. He won from the Under-13 age group all the way to Under-19.

European and International Tournaments

In European junior tournaments, Rajiv won the Under-19 Danish titles in singles and mixed doubles. He also won the German Junior singles title. A big achievement was winning the European Junior Badminton Championships in 2005. He was the first Englishman to win this title in twenty years.

In 2009, Rajiv won several international tournaments. These included the Canadian International, Le Volant d'Or de Toulouse, Scottish Open, and Irish Open. He then went on to win the 2009 European Circuit Finals.

Rajiv first played for England's senior team at age nineteen in the Thomas Cup. He was also the youngest player on the English team for the Sudirman Cup. In February 2010, he was the main singles player for England in the Thomas Cup qualifiers in Poland.

By November 2010, Rajiv was ranked world number 11. This was after he won the U.S. Open men's singles title. He also won a bronze medal in men's singles at the European Championships that year. Later in 2010, he earned a silver medal in men's singles at the Commonwealth Games. He also won a bronze medal in the mixed team event at the same games.

In 2014, Rajiv won a silver medal at the European Championships. He lost to Jan Ø. Jørgensen from Denmark in the final in Kazan, Russia.

Rajiv represented Great Britain at the 2016 Summer Olympics in the men's singles event. He reached the quarter-finals but was defeated by Viktor Axelsen from Denmark. Axelsen later won the bronze medal.
