Ralida Island (Bulgarian: остров Ралида, romanized: ostrov Ralida) is a small, rocky island in Antarctica. It is about 320 meters (1,050 feet) long and 80 meters (260 feet) wide. You can find it in Belimel Bay, which is on the southwest coast of Trinity Island. This area is part of the Palmer Archipelago.
The island gets its name from a fishing trawler called Ralida. This ship belonged to a Bulgarian company named Ocean Fisheries – Burgas. Their ships were very active in the waters around South Georgia, Kerguelen, the South Orkney Islands, South Shetland Islands, and the Antarctic Peninsula. They operated from the 1970s into the early 1990s. Bulgarian fishermen, along with those from the Soviet Union, Poland, and East Germany, were important pioneers in modern Antarctic fishing.
