Rasmussen is found in the northern part of Queensland, Australia. It's the second suburb you'll find along the Garbutt–Upper Ross Road, also known as Riverway Drive. It sits right between the suburbs of Condon and Kelso.
The land in Rasmussen is mostly flat. Its eastern side is bordered by the beautiful Ross River. This suburb is expanding quickly, with many new homes being built for families.
Rasmussen's Past: A Look Back
Many suburbs in the Upper Ross and Riverway areas are named after the first families who settled there. Rasmussen is named after the Rasmussen family, who came from Denmark. Jorgen Rasmussen and his family ran a dairy farm right by the Ross River.
Education has been important in Rasmussen for a long time. Rasmussen State School first opened its doors on 23 January 1978. Later, Good Shepherd Catholic School welcomed its first students in January 1996. It started with 81 students in Prep to Year 3.
In recent years, Rasmussen has seen more development. In 2018, plans were announced for new shopping centres to serve the growing community.
