Ravana was a very powerful king in ancient Indian stories. He is a main character in the famous Hindu epic, the Ramayana. Ravana was known for having ten heads and twenty arms, which made him look very strong and fearsome. He was the ruler of Lanka, an island kingdom.

Ravana was a Rakshasa, a type of powerful being in Hindu mythology. He was also a great scholar and a devotee of Lord Shiva. However, he was also very proud and arrogant, which led to his downfall.

The Story of Sita

Ravana's story is closely linked to Lord Rama, an avatar of Lord Vishnu. The conflict between them began when Ravana's sister, Surpanakha, tried to harm Rama's wife, Sita, and was injured by Rama's brother, Lakshmana.

To get revenge, Ravana decided to kidnap Sita. He tricked her and took her away to his kingdom of Lanka. He wanted Sita to marry him, but she refused and remained loyal to Lord Rama.

The Great Battle

Lord Rama, along with his loyal brother Lakshmana, set out to rescue Sita. They formed a strong alliance with the monkey army, led by the brave general Hanuman and the monkey king Sugriva.

A huge war broke out between Rama's army and Ravana's powerful forces in Lanka. Many brave warriors fought on both sides. The battle was long and fierce.

In the end, Lord Rama faced Ravana in a mighty duel. After a long fight, Rama defeated Ravana, bringing an end to his rule and rescuing Sita.

Ravana's Family

Ravana had a large family. His father was Vishrava and his mother was Kaikesi. He had several wives, including Mandodari and Dhanyamalini.

Ravana also had many sons, who were powerful warriors themselves. Some of his most famous sons included Indrajit, Atikaya, and Akshayakumara. His brother, Vibhishana, was a good person who disagreed with Ravana's actions and eventually joined Lord Rama.
