What is the Red Men Museum?
The Red Men Museum and Library was started in 1991. It was created because of a man named Robert E. Davis. He used to be a national leader for the Red Men group.
How the Museum Started
Robert E. Davis loved collecting things. He gathered many items related to the Red Men group. He also bought many other interesting artifacts at auctions. When he passed away, he left his whole collection to the organization. That's how the museum got its start!
The Organization Behind It
The museum is run by the Texas Red Men Foundation. This building is also where the main offices for the national Red Men group are located. You can also find the Texas state office here. The museum is part of the Texas Brazos Trail. This is a special program to help people explore historical places in Texas. The museum is also a member of the Museum Association of Waco.

Special Items in the Collection
Imagine seeing a peace blanket that belonged to Geronimo! He was a famous Apache leader. The museum also has a bugle from the Gettysburg Battlefield. This was a very important battle in the American Civil War. You can also see a writing desk that belonged to Aaron Burr. He was an early American politician. There are even moccasins from another Chiricahua leader named Cochise.

The Museum Building
The museum building is located near the Waco Independent School District football stadium. It's a brick building that looks a bit like Monticello. Monticello was the home of Thomas Jefferson, a founding father of the United States. The museum building also has a large hall and a kitchen. These can be used for different events.
