US 131 is a freeway that connects with US 10 close to Reed City.

Reed City is also famous for two of Michigan's best rail trails. Rail trails are old railroad tracks that have been turned into paths for walking, biking, and sometimes even horseback riding.

Past Transportation
Long ago, trains were a big part of life in Reed City.
The Pennsylvania Railroad used to run trains through Reed City. These trains traveled from Grand Rapids to places like Cadillac and Mackinaw City. The land these trains used is now part of the White Pine Trail. Passenger train service stopped in Reed City around 1954 or 1955.
Another railroad, the Pere Marquette Railway, also had trains going through Reed City. These trains went west to Ludington and east to Saginaw. This route is now part of the Pere Marquette Trail. Passenger service on this line ended in 1949.
Famous People from Reed City
Some notable people have connections to Reed City:
- George Bennard was an American composer and preacher. He is best known for writing the famous hymn, "The Old Rugged Cross." He lived in Reed City later in his life and passed away there in 1958.
- Harold Cronk is an American writer and director.
- William C. Giese was born in Reed City in 1886. He became a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly and was also an educator.
- Thomas D. Schall was born in Reed City in 1878. He later became a U.S. Representative and a U.S. Senator for Minnesota.
