A Stadium with Many Names
When the stadium first opened in 2002, it was known as Reliant Stadium. This name came from Reliant Energy, a company that sponsored the stadium. On March 19, 2014, the name changed to NRG Stadium. This new name came from NRG Energy, which is the main company that owns Reliant Energy.
More Than Just Football
NRG Stadium isn't just for football games. Many other exciting events happen here too! For example, it hosted WWE's WrestleMania 25 on April 5, 2009. WrestleMania is a very popular professional wrestling event. The stadium also hosts rodeos, concerts, and other big shows.
