Richard Farnsworth facts for kids
Richard W. Farnsworth (September 1, 1920 – October 6, 2000) was an American television, stage, radio, voice, and movie actor, and a stuntman. He was previously known as Dick Farnsworth. He was nominated for two Academy Awards.
Farnsworth was known for his role as Sheriff Buster in the 1990 movie Misery. Farnsworth is the oldest person to receive an Academy Award nominated for Best Actor in a Leading role. He was 79 years old when he was nominated.
Farnsworth never liked using four-lettered words. He was once asked by Roger Ebert what he was most proud of in regards to his acting career, he replied that it was the fact that in over 60 movies he never says one cuss word.
Farnsworth died on October 6, 2000 at his ranch in Lincoln, New Mexico. He was 80 years old.
He was added into the Hall of Great Western Performers of the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum in 1997.
