Kids Encyclopedia Facts

The Hollywood Walk of Fame is a famous sidewalk in Hollywood, California. It has more than 2,700 five-pointed stars. These stars honor people who have done amazing things in entertainment.

The stars are given in different categories:

  • Motion pictures: For actors, directors, and others in movies.
  • Television: For people in TV shows and programs.
  • Recording: For singers, musicians, and music producers.
  • Radio: For radio hosts and personalities.
  • Live performance: For performers in live shows, like theater or magic.
  • Sports entertainment: For people in sports entertainment, like wrestling.

A star is added only after a special ceremony takes place. It's not added when someone is just nominated. The stars are listed by the person's last name, just as it appears on their star.
