Richard "Richi" Freitag (born on August 14, 1991) is a German former ski jumper. He competed in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup from 2010 to 2022. Richard was a top competitor, finishing second overall in the 2017–18 Ski Jumping World Cup season. He also earned a bronze medal at the 2018 Ski Flying World Championships.

Richard Freitag's Ski Jumping Journey
Richard Freitag started his journey in ski jumping at a young age. He first competed in the Ski jumping Continental Cup. This is a series of competitions for up-and-coming ski jumpers.
Early World Cup Competitions
Richard made his big debut in the FIS Ski Jumping World Cup on December 29, 2009. This happened at the Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf, Germany. A few days later, on January 3, 2010, he earned his first World Cup point in Innsbruck. He also took part in the 2010 Ski-Flying World Championships in Planica, finishing 28th.
First Podium Finishes
In the 2011–12 World Cup season, Richard began to shine. He achieved his first podium finish on December 3, 2011, in Lillehammer, where he placed second. Just one week later, he won his first World Cup competition. This victory happened on the large hill in Harrachov. Interestingly, his father, Holger Freitag, also won his only World Cup event on the same hill in 1983.
Olympic Success
Richard Freitag achieved a major milestone at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. He won a silver medal with his German teammates. This was in the team large hill competition. His teammates were Karl Geiger, Stephan Leyhe, and Andreas Wellinger.
