Richard started his college football career at Bakersfield College. He played there from 1986 to 1987. After that, he joined the Miami Hurricanes. This team is part of the University of Miami. He played for them in 1988 and 1989. He was a two-year letterman for the Hurricanes. This means he played well enough to earn a special award. In 1989, his team won a national championship.
Richard Newbill's Professional Football Career
Richard Newbill began his professional journey in 1990. The Houston Oilers picked him in the NFL draft. He was the 126th player chosen overall. He officially joined the team in July 1990. However, he was released by the Oilers in September of that year.
